Capital Market: Trading ends week with downtrend
The week’s final trading day concluded on Thursday with a decline in both the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges, as most listed companies saw their share prices fall.
On the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark index DSEX dropped by 16 points. The Shariah-based index DSES fell by 3 points, while the blue-chip index DS30 decreased by 4 points.
Out of 391 companies that took part in the day’s trading on the DSE, the majority experienced price declines. Prices rose for 114 companies, dropped for 200, and remained unchanged for 77.
Although most A and B category shares losing value, the prices of Z-category shares saw a rise. Among the 97 companies in the A category, share prices rose for 38, declined for 23, while prices of the remaining 36 stayed unchanged.
The majority of mutual funds also faced a fall in value. Of the 36 mutual funds traded, 21 saw price drops, 2 recorded gains and 13 remained unchanged.
Stocks: Dhaka sees gains in early trade, Chattogram dips
Shares worth Tk 7 crore from 20 companies were traded in the DSE block market, with Uttara Bank leading by offloading shares worth Tk 1 crore.
Total turnover at the DSE stood at Tk 253 crore, down from Tk 326 crore in the previous session.
Sonargaon Textile topped the gainers’ list on the DSE with a 9.84% price increase, while United Finance faced the steepest drop, losing over 8.40% of its value.
Decline in Chattogram as Well
Like Dhaka, the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) also witnessed a downturn, with the overall index falling by 14 points during the day’s trade.
Among the 190 companies traded, prices increased for 79, dropped for 77, and remained unchanged for 34.
Total turnover at the CSE reached Tk 7.98 crore, slightly higher than the previous day’s figure of Tk 7.84 crore.
Sonargaon Textile also led the gainers on the CSE with a 10% rise, whereas Envoy Textile suffered the biggest loss, dropping by 9.545%.

Stocks: Dhaka sees gains in early trade, Chattogram dips
The key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose in the first hour of trading on the last working day of the week, while the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) saw a marginal decline.
At the DSE, the benchmark DSEX index gained 12 points shortly after trading began.
Dhaka, Chattogram bourses end higher amid broad-based gains
Among the other indices, the Shariah-based DSES index and the blue-chip DS30 index both advanced by 4 points.
Share prices of most companies increased during this period. Of the issues traded, 180 advanced, 95 declined and 90 remained unchanged.
The turnover on the DSE crossed Tk 70 crore within the first hour.
Meanwhile, the CSE's overall index dropped by 9 points.

Out of 62 issues traded in Chattogram, 31 advanced, 24 declined, and 7 remained unchanged.
The turnover at the CSE exceeded Tk 1 crore during the same period.

Dhaka, Chattogram bourses end higher amid broad-based gains
Dhaka, May 21 (UNB) - Both the Dhaka and Chattogram stock markets ended with indices on the rise, accompanied by gains in the majority of listed companies on Wednesday, the fifth trading day of the week.
Trading volume also increased in both the bourses.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark index DSEX advanced by 6 points. The Shariah-compliant DSES index gained 2 points, while the blue-chip DS30 index rose by 1 point.

Of the 399 companies traded, prices increased for most. A total of 227 companies saw gains, while prices fell for 105 and remained unchanged for 67.
Share prices increased across all three categories—A, B and Z. In the A category, which includes companies with good dividend records, 142 of the 221 traded companies registered price gains, while 56 declined and 23 remained unchanged.
Remittance inflow stays strong as BD expats send $1.61bn in 17 days of May
Nearly all of the 36 mutual funds that participated in trading saw price increases. Specifically, 35 mutual fund units posted gains, while prices for 13 remained unchanged.
In the DSE block market, shares worth Tk 22 crore from 27 companies were traded. Orion Infusion Limited topped the list with block trades amounting to Tk 5 crore.
The total turnover at the DSE stood at Tk 326 crore, up from Tk 297 crore in the previous trading session.
Legacy Footwear led the gainers at the DSE with a 9.85 percent rise in share price. On the other hand, Progressive Life Insurance suffered the biggest loss, dropping by over 6 percent.
Chattogram Market Also Sees Gains
Similar to Dhaka, indices also rose at the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE). At the end of the session, the CSE's overall index climbed 29 points.
Out of the 194 companies that traded, 113 saw their share prices increase, 53 declined, and 28 remained unchanged.
The total turnover at the CSE reached Tk 7.84 crore, up from Tk 6.65 crore in the previous session.
Legacy Footwear was also the top gainer at the CSE with a 10 percent increase in share price. Conversely, Monospool Bangladesh PLC ended at the bottom of the list with a 9.97 percent decline.

Dhaka stocks rebound, Chattogram index dips
After two consecutive days of decline, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rebounded on Monday, though the Chattogram bourse saw its key index fall.
Despite the contrasting index movements, the share prices of most companies rose in both the markets.
The benchmark DSEX index of the DSE gained 18 points, while the Shariah-compliant DSES added 5 points and the DS30, comprising blue-chip companies advanced 8 points.
Stock Market: Trading opens lower in Dhaka, Chattogram
Out of 390 issues traded on the DSE, 221 advanced, 104 declined and 75 remained unchanged.
Prices rose across all three categories—A, B, and Z. In the A category, which consists of fundamentally strong and dividend-paying companies, 106 out of 213 traded issues posted gains, while 70 declined and 37 remained unchanged.
But, most mutual funds saw price declines. Among the 36 funds that traded, 13 lost value, 10 gained, and 13 closed flat.
In the block market, shares of 31 companies worth Tk 23 crore changed hands. Orion Infusion Limited topped the block trade list with shares worth Tk 11 crore.
Trading in DSE, CSE begins with continued fall in indices
The total turnover at the DSE stood at Tk 297 crore, up from Tk 288 crore in the previous session.
Fu-Wang Food emerged as the day’s top gainer with a 10% rise, while United Commercial Bank (UCB) shed over 6%, making it the day’s worst performer on the DSE.
CSE Index Falls
While Dhaka saw a modest upturn, the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) closed in the red. The overall CSE index dropped by 7 points at the end of trading.
Of the 174 companies traded at the CSE, 69 advanced, 65 declined and 40 remained unchanged.
Turnover at the CSE stood at Tk 6.65 crore, a sharp drop from Tk 16.10 crore in the previous session.
Shamrita Hospital gained 10%, topping the gainer list in Chattogram, while Uttara Finance and Investment Limited fell by the same margin, ending as the worst loser.

Stock Market: Trading opens lower in Dhaka, Chattogram
Trading at the stock markets in Dhaka and Chattogram began with a decline on the third working day of the week on Monday, as share prices of most listed companies fell.
During the first half of the session, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dropped by 16 points. Of the other two indices, the Shariah-based DSES was down by 2 points.
The DS30 index, which tracks blue-chip companies, also declined by 9 points.
Out of the companies that participated in trading, share prices rose for 109, declined for 203, and remained unchanged for 77.
The turnover on the DSE crossed Tk 130 crore during the first half of trading.
A similar trend was observed at the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE), where the overall index fell by 23 points.
Stocks close the week on downtrend
Of the 108 companies that took part in trading at the CSE, 29 saw gains, 63 experienced losses, while prices of 16 companies remained unchanged.
Shares and units worth over Tk 3 crore were traded at the CSE during the first half of the session.

Share markets slump again, indices fall in Dhaka and Chattogram
All indices on both the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges fell on the second trading day of the week on Sunday, with most participating companies witnessing a decline in share prices.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark index DSEX dropped by 29 points.
The Shariah-based DSES index lost 6 points, while the blue-chip index DS30 declined by 8 points.
Out of 400 companies that took part in the trading, most experienced a fall in prices. Prices rose for 102 companies, fell for 241, while 57 remained unchanged.
Share prices dropped across all categories — A, B, and Z. In Category A, which includes companies known for paying dividends, 55 out of 221 saw price gains. Prices declined for 142, while 24 remained unchanged.
The prices of most mutual funds also declined. Out of 36 funds, 29 recorded losses, only one advanced, and six remained unchanged.
Market swings amid volatile trading at DSE and CSE
In the DSE block market, shares worth Tk 9.25 crore were traded from 23 companies.
DBH Finance topped the block trade chart, selling shares worth Tk 1.5 crore.
The total turnover at the DSE stood at Tk 292 crore for the day, up from Tk 262 crore in the previous session.
Sonargaon Textile emerged as the top gainer on the DSE with a 9.71 percent price increase, while First Bangladesh Fixed Income Fund dropped the most, losing over 9.76 percent.
Indices Fall in Chattogram as Well
Similar to Dhaka, indices also declined at the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE).
The overall index at the CSE dropped by 78 points during the day's trading.
Of the 236 companies that participated, 88 saw their prices rise, 118 declined, and 30 remained unchanged.
The CSE reported a total turnover of Tk 10 crore, up from Tk 9.19 crore in the previous session.
City Insurance topped the gainers’ list at the CSE with a 9.87 percent rise in price, while Bangladesh Lamps led the losers, shedding nearly 10 percent.

Market swings amid volatile trading at DSE and CSE

Meanwhile, the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced a sharp downturn after an initial rally. Within the first two hours, the overall index at the CSE dropped by 82 points.
Of the 177 companies that traded on the CSE, prices increased for 71, declined for 78, and stayed unchanged for 28.

The CSE recorded a turnover of over Tk 4 crore in shares and units during the first half of trading.

Trading in DSE, CSE begins with continued fall in indices
Bangladesh’s capital markets continued their downward trend for a third straight day, with indices on both the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges falling in the first hour of trading on the week's final working day.
At the outset of trading, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the DSEX, dropped by 9 points.
Among the other indices, the Shariah-based DSES slipped by 1 point, while the DS30 index, which comprises selected blue-chip stocks, declined by 3 points.
A majority of the listed companies experienced a fall in share prices. While 109 companies saw gains, prices declined for 179 companies and remained unchanged for 92.

In the first hour of trading, shares and units worth approximately Tk 65 crore were exchanged on the Dhaka market.

Out of the 73 companies that participated in trading, share prices rose for 16, declined for 44, and remained unchanged for 13.

Market slumps again in Dhaka and Chattogram bourses
Bangladesh’s capital markets witnessed yet another day of decline on Wednesday, as both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) continued to fall, with all key indices ending lower and the majority of listed shares losing value.
This marks the third consecutive day of downward momentum, following losses in the previous two sessions.
At the DSE, the benchmark index DSEX shed 38 points, while the Shariah-based DSES fell by 10 points. The DS30 index, which tracks blue-chip stocks, lost 7 points.
Out of the 399 companies traded during the session, 292 saw price declines. Only 61 registered gains, while prices of 46 issues remained unchanged.
The downtrend was observed across all categories of shares – A, B, and Z. In the A-category, which consists of fundamentally strong dividend-paying stocks, 153 out of 218 companies closed lower, while 39 gained and 26 remained unchanged.
Mutual funds also faced pressure, with 21 out of 36 declining. Only 3 funds saw an uptick, while 12 remained unchanged.

Block market transactions involved 22 companies with a total turnover of Tk 16 crore. Renata Limited led the segment with shares worth Tk 4.96 crore traded.
Turnover at the DSE also dropped, amounting to Tk 294 crore for the day – down from Tk 343 crore in the previous session.
City General Insurance topped the gainers’ list with a 9.91 percent rise, while NRB Bank ended at the bottom, losing over 6.77 percent.
Decline in Chattogram as Well
The bearish trend extended to the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE), where the overall index dipped by 71 points at the close of trading.
Out of 196 traded companies, 127 declined, 44 advanced and 25 remained unchanged.
Turnover at the CSE stood at Tk 11.12 crore, a notable rise from Tk 7.67 crore in the previous session.
Sonali Life Insurance emerged as the top gainer at the CSE with a 10 percent price increase, while KDS Accessories Limited saw the sharpest fall, shedding over 9.82 percent.
Both bourses now await a possible reversal amid cautious investor sentiment and a challenging economic backdrop.

Stock Market: Major decline in Dhaka and Chattogram; most companies lose value
Although trading began positively on Tuesday, both the Dhaka and Chattogram stock markets ended the day with most company shares losing value.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark index DSEX fell by 46 points. The Shariah-based DSES declined by 12 points, while the blue-chip index DS30 dropped by 16 points.
Out of the 398 companies traded on the DSE, prices fell for most. Only 54 companies saw an increase in share price, while 309 declined and 35 remained unchanged.
Share prices declined across all three categories — A, B, and Z. In the A category, which comprises fundamentally strong companies with regular dividend history, 32 out of 220 companies saw price appreciation, while 178 experienced a fall and 10 remained unchanged.
Dhaka, Chattogram share markets open with gains in key indices
Among the 36 mutual funds traded, prices fell for the majority. Only 2 mutual funds registered gains, 32 declined, and 2 remained unchanged.
In the DSE block market, shares of 22 companies were traded for a total value of Tk 9.14 crore. SEML Lecture Equity Management Fund topped the block trades with sales worth Tk 2.44 crore.
Alongside the index drop, the daily turnover also declined in the Dhaka market. Total turnover stood at Tk 343 crore, down from Tk 364 crore in the previous session.
First Bangladesh Fixed Income Fund was the top gainer on the DSE with an 8.11 percent price increase. On the other hand, Midas Financing suffered the biggest loss, with a price drop of over 16 percent.
Fall in Chattogram as Well
The Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) also experienced a decline, mirroring the trend in Dhaka. The overall index at the CSE dropped by 36 points during the day's trading.
Out of 201 companies traded, 55 gained in price, 113 fell, and 33 remained unchanged.
Total turnover at the CSE stood at Tk 7.67 crore, slightly up from the previous session’s Tk 7.29 crore.
ICB Second Mutual Fund topped the gainers’ list on the CSE with a 10 percent rise in price.
Meanwhile, Midas Financing also recorded the highest loss at the CSE, with its share price falling by over 13 percent, similar to its performance on the DSE.
